The National eWell-Being Awards

Now in their eighth successive year, the National eWell-Being Awards promote the benefits of Information and Communication Technologies.

The National eWell-Being Awards are unique in celebrating the social, economic and environmental benefits of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The aim is to identify the most innovative uses of ICT by local authorities, businesses, third-sector organisations and academic institutions.

The awards are designed to promote the tangible benefits that ICT can bring to society the economy and to the environment, along with raising the profile of category winners.

Since their launch in 2002 by SustainIT, an initiative of the UK Centre for Economic and Environmental Development (UKCEED), the awards have attracted over 800 high-quality entries from a diverse range of organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Last year we celebrated the seventh successful year of the awards and saw the same wide range of high quality entries being entered.  In a move to a format in line with the principles of sustainability and ICT, the traditional post award newspaper supplement was changed in favour of a digital magazine. This allowed us to incorporate film for the first time ever, with short films being made on the winning Talking Bus Stops project, on Very PC, the winner of the special award, and of course to capture the excitement of the awards night itself.

2009 also saw support for the awards being boosted by the sponsorship of Unison, the largest public sector union in Europe and we are immensley grateful to Unison and for the continued support from BT and PC Pro Magazine.
